What is Project WET?

Project WET's mission is to reach children, parents, teachers and community members of the world with water education that promotes awareness of water and empowers community action to solve complex water issues.

Materials

Project WET developed its first activities in 1984. In 1995, Project WET published its cornerstone publication, the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide.

The success of this educators' guide was followed by the development of several region- and topic-specific series: Conserve Water; Discover a Watershed; Healthy Water, Healthy People; Water and Education and Wonders of Wetlands.

Project WET's Kids In Discovery series (KIDs) was launched with the publication of The Water Story in 1996.  Since then, more than sixty activity booklets have been published, many of which also have been translated languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dagbani and Kiswahili.

In 2011, Project WET published the award-winning, National Science Teachers Association-recommended Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide 2.0, completely revising, updating, and contemporizing the successful first edition.

How do I get Project WET Materials?

You can obtain Project WET materials by attending a training workshop. At the training workshop, you will learn how easy it is to incorporate WET's action-oriented activities into your current lesson plans and curriculum. You will have the opportunity to meet other professionals in your area who are interested in environmental education. Workshops can be scheduled for your building, school district or community.
