Assistant Finance Manager

FSWCD is seeking an administrative/project/financial assistant. The assistant will execute general administrative duties that support FSWCD natural resource priorities and mission to offer technical and educational assistance to private land users.

Duties: Assist the Financial Manager and District Coordinator in the following duties:

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, or a related field AND one year of progressively responsible budget and accounting work experience or three years of accounting experience at a professional level.

                                           Soil and Compost Technician

Job Summary

This position presents a unique opportunity for the applicant to get experience working on multiple projects at the Fairbanks Soil and Water Conservation District including creating and maintaining compost, soil nutrient analysis, and general agricultural support.  This role is split between two supervisors with the applicant spending half of the time on the agriculture team and half of the time working on the food waste reduction/compost project, with responsibilities and schedule clearly outlined and communicated.  This position will be a combination of outside work, outreach, and office work. 


Job Skills and Qualifications:





Duties Include:

1.) Help to analyze soil lab results and make fertilizer recommendations for gardeners and farmers.

2.) Assist in annual fundraising event Tree Sale and tree care.

3.) Maintain local food waste drop spots and compost sites. 

4.) Manage website and soil media updates.

5.) Assist with events including free workshops and community outreach events.

6.) Contribute to and edit a grant-funded feasibility study on food waste reduction in Fairbanks.

7.) General support for FSWCD agriculture and compost programs.

Term: Seasonal, Start Date Flexible 

    Start: Between May 1st and May 15th, 2024

    End: August 30th, 2024

Hours:  Full-time, (35-40 hours/week) with occasional weekend work for special events

Compensation: $20.00/hour
